My wife, Sheila and I moved to Bourton in 2001, when I was still in the Army. Operational tours in DR Congo and Iraq, and then a civilian job with Chevron Texaco in Nigeria kept me away until I settled down to village life in 2009. I was a North Dorset District Councillor from 2015-19, which included membership of the Planning Committee which gave me a solid grounding in planning issues. I have been a member of Bourton Parish Council since 2011 and was elected Chairman in May 2023. I am a Trustee of the Village Hall, a member of the Speedwatch team and of the Wildlife & Habitat Group. My responsibilities beyond Bourton include being Churchwarden of St Nicholas Church, Silton and Chairman of The Friends of the Royal Artillery Museum.
